Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?
If you’ll be keeping your dumpster rental on private property, like in your driveway or on a construction site, you do not need a permit. However, if you’ll be placing your container in the street or blocking the sidewalk, you’ll need to apply for an Encroachment or Obstruction Permit from the city of Hartford’s Engineering Division. Give us a call if you have questions about the permitting process or how to prepare for delivery.
Should I cover my roll off dumpster if it rains?
If bad weather is on the horizon, it’s a good idea to cover your roll off container and protect your debris from the rain or snow. Water can saturate your materials, making them heavier and potentially leading you to exceed your weight limit. We recommend covering your bin with a large tarp and securing it with bungee cords.
Is there a right way to fill a roll off container?
Whether you’re cleaning out old furniture or getting rid of construction debris, we recommend loading up your largest items first. Once you’ve walked those inside the bin through the swinging door, you can throw smaller, lightweight items in over the sides of the roll off dumpster as you continue your cleanup. You can also use a wheelbarrow to roll the debris inside the container one load at a time. Just make sure your materials stay below the top of the dumpster.

How It Works
1. Choose a size and delivery spot. We require 60 feet of space in a straight line and 23 feet of vertical clearance.
2. Prepare for delivery. Remove any vehicles, materials or low-hanging obstacles to ensure we can deliver your dumpster and to avoid a trip fee.
3. Fill up your dumpster. Remember to keep your included weight limit in mind to prevent overage fees.
4. Schedule your pickup. To ensure pickup and avoid a trip fee, your dumpster must be accessible and only contain approved debris piled no higher than the sidewalls.
