Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?
If you plan to place your roll off dumpster in the street in front of your home or somewhere it will block a public sidewalk, you will need to apply for a Right-of-Way permit from the city of Alameda’s Permit Center. If you are placing the dumpster in your own driveway or on private property, you do not need to get a permit.
Where is the best place to keep my dumpster rental?
When you rent a dumpster for a home improvement project or cleanout, your driveway is usually the most convenient placement option - assuming it’s not on a steep incline. If you’re a contractor or job site manager, place the dumpster in a designated waste area that’s on a flat spot and away from equipment.

2. Prepare for delivery. Remove any vehicles, materials or low-hanging obstacles to ensure we can deliver your dumpster and to avoid a trip fee.
3. Fill up your dumpster. Remember to keep your included weight limit in mind to prevent overage fees.
4. Schedule your pickup. To ensure pickup and avoid a trip fee, your dumpster must be accessible and only contain approved debris piled no higher than the sidewalls.
